Armed Commissioned Level 4 Training in Texas

1. Enroll in the Course

- Sign up for the 15-hour, in-person DPS-approved Level 4 Bodyguard Training.
2. Attend All Classroom Sessions

- Complete the full curriculum covering personal protection, defensive tactics, threat avoidance, and situational awareness.
3. Pass Course Requirements

- Successfully demonstrate understanding of course materials through classroom assessments.
4. Receive Your Certificate

- Upon completion, you will receive your DPS-approved Level 4 certificate, verifying your training.
5. Apply for Your Level 4 License

- Submit your Level 4 license application to the Texas DPS – Private Security Board once your Level 3 commission is issued.
Eligibility Requirements – Level 4 Bodyguard Training

Must hold a commissioned Level 3 security officer license in Texas.

May enroll in the Level 4 course after completing Level 3 training, but cannot apply for Level 4 licensing until the Level 3 commission is officially issued.
